Jets Have a True No. 1 Option, But Lack Reliable Depth at Wide Receiver Position

The Jets' need for a productive WR2 was evident in 2022 and GM Joe Douglas could opt to fix that through the NFL Draft

There was Garrett Wilson and then there was everyone else in the 2022 New York Jets’ receivers’ room.

More than doubling the production of the next best Jets wide receiver, Wilson gained 1,103 receiving yards on 83 catches en-route to the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

In fact, it was Jets’ tight end Tyler Conklin who ranked second to Wilson in both receptions (58) and receiving yards (552) on the 2022 team stat sheet.

Wilson, who recorded 56 first downs, led the Jets with four touchdown receptions.

Meanwhile, Corey Davis, Elijah Moore, Denzel Mims and Braxton Berrios combined for three TD catches and none of the four wide receivers totaled more than 37 receptions last season.

Even if the Jets featured a clear-cut WR2 in 2022, it would still make sense for general manager Joe Douglas to target that position early again in the NFL Draft.

New York was handsomely rewarded for spending the No. 10 overall selection on Wilson last spring.

After an All-American career at Ohio State, Wilson ran a 4.38 in the 40-yard dash at the 2022 NFL Combine.
