If you were today years old when you learned that the New York Jets have never had an NFL MVP winner, then you are not alone.

NFL Research identified seven franchises that "are still searching for their first player to win the league's most coveted individual accolade."

Not even Joe Willie Namath achieved the feat during his Hall-of-Fame career, meaning the Jets are on the list of MVP-less clubs.

The Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the six other teams to not have experienced a Most Valuable Player season. Four of those organizations were established after Gang Green, which began AFL competition in 1960. The Jets had a 30+ year head start on both the Jaguars and Texans.

In addition to listing the seven franchises who are still waiting for their first MVP campaign, NFL digital content editor Grant Gordon chose the one player who is most likely to break his team's drought.

Naturally, Aaron Rodgers was that guy for the Jets. The four-time NFL MVP is reunited with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett in New York. While running Hackett's scheme in Green Bay, Rodgers won the league's top individual honor in 2020 and 2021.

From "Could one of these seven NFL teams finally celebrate first MVP in 2023?":

"The annual NFL Honors might as well reside in Mr. Rodgers’ neighborhood. Rodgers has four AP NFL MVPs on his first-ballot Hall of Fame resume, which is second all time. Rodgers won back-to-back MVPs in 2020-2021. Though he’s only a few months from his 40th birthday, Rodgers still isn’t far removed from being voted as the league’s top dog. If Rodgers leads a Jets playoff parade, a fifth MVP could be a reality. Then again, if he leads New York to the Super Bowl, he could be a Gotham legend rivaled only by Batman and Broadway Joe. "

When it comes to the betting futures market, Rodgers is viewed as a realistic possible winner by SI Sportsbook. With +1400 odds (or 14-to-1), the 39-year-old field general sits as the sixth most-likely player to capture the 2023 NFL MVP.

Only Patrick Mahomes (+650), Joe Burrow (+700), Josh Allen (+750), Justin Herbert (+1000) and Jalen Hurts (+1200) are more heavily favored than Rodgers in the race.

Four more quarterbacks, three of which compete in the AFC, are right behind Rodgers with +1600 odds — Trevor Lawrence, Tua Tagovailoa, Lamar Jackson, Dak Prescott.
