Lions Downgrade Jahmyr Gibbs to Doubtful, Elevate Dylan Drummond

Lions are likely to be without Jahmyr Gibbs Week 5.

The Detroit Lions announced that Dylan Drummond is elevated from the team's practice squad to the Active/Inactive list for Sunday's contest against the Carolina Panthers.

Additionally, Jason Cabinda has been placed on injured reserve, while Julian Okwara has been activated from IR in a corresponding move.

Wide receiver Jameson Williams was officially activated from the exempt list, likely signaling his 2023 debut Sunday.

Unfortunately, it appears running back Jahmyr Gibbs will miss his first career game, as he has been downgraded to doubtful against the Panthers.

Detroit's No. 12 overall pick popped up on the injury report Friday with a hamstring injury.

Despite the Lions being a heavy favorite to win at Ford Field this week, head coach Dan Campbell expects to see a Panthers team that will attempt to do whatever is needed to win the football game.

In Campbell's first season at the helm back in 2021, the team went 0-10-1 prior to securing their first victory of the season against the Minnesota Vikings at home.

"Let me say this, it’s going to be a dog fight. I mean this team’s not, and I say that every week, they’re not just going to come in here and give a win away," said Campbell. "They’re coming in here to fight. I mean, and that’s why I bring up the point, we know exactly what this is, we’ve been there, done that, man. When you’re scratching and clawing for everything you can possibly get, you lost four in a row, I know exactly what they’re thinking. So, we’ll be ready.”

Amon-Ra St. Brown's injury, which will likely keep him out action this week, occurred during the Packers game last week.

"Happened during the game, was able to finish it and then like a lot of these injuries, man, you can get through and then the irritation begins," said Campbell. "No different than kind of what had happened to (Taylor) Decker. He was able to get through that Kansas City game but then it’s the residual effect. So, that’s what happens with a lot of these guys.”
