Buggs, Jackson Ruled Out Against Bears
The Detroit Lions have withstood an abundance of injuries to their offensive line throughout the 2023 season. Entering Week 11, it appears as though they may be down a starter once again.
Jonah Jackson, who returned from a three-game absence last week against the Los Angeles Chargers, has not participated in each of the team's three practices this week. He's listed as out for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.
Without him, the Lions could turn once again to either Kayode Awosika or Colby Sorsdal to start at left guard. Awosika has made two starts this season, while Sorsdal has one.
These reps have been pivotal for the Lions depth. With Jackson sidelined Sunday, Dan Campbell has confidence in Awosika and Sorsdal to perform at a high level.
"A lot of comfort. Those guys have time on task, they've played with the other guys," Campbell said. "We've got some guys that can play over there, 'Yode, Sorsdal, Skip (Dan Skipper). So we've got options here."
Isaiah Buggs is also listed as out on the injury report. His absence could lead to an opportunity for rookie Brodric Martin who has played in just one game this season.
James Houston, who has been on injured reserve since suffering an ankle injury in Week 2, appears to be inching closer to a return from injury. He was observed walking without a boot and pulling a weighted sled on the side of the practice field Friday.
