Frank Ragnow, Isaiah Buggs Inactive against Raiders

Lions release Week 8 inactive list.
In this story:

The Detroit Lions will be without multiple starters in Monday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

In addition to running back David Montgomery and offensive lineman Jonah Jackson already being ruled out, center Frank Ragnow will be held out of action.

The Lions called up Michael Niese from the practice squad as a corresponding move. Running back Devine Ozigbo was signed to the active roster from the practice squad, after being elevated in each of the last two games.

Despite the unfortunate news, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown will indeed suit up, per reports. The USC product was a late addition to the game status report Sunday with an illness.

St. Brown will look to anchor an improved offensive effort after last week's defeat. Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson took the blame for the struggles early in the game, as Detroit went three-and-out on each of its first three possessions.

“Yeah, we all look in the mirror. Clearly, I wish I had different plays in the opening script, ones that would’ve worked a little bit better. But, that’s about it," Johnson said. "Felt good going into the game with the plan that we had, and had to deviate from that plan pretty early based on the situation, probably shouldn’t of. Felt like we had a good one, should’ve just stuck to our guns in how we wanted to call that game. But, a lot of good lessons to be learned from that game. I think we’re going to be a better crew for it.”

Additionally, defensive lineman Brodric Martin, a third-round pick of the Lions this past April (No. 96 overall), is set to make his NFL debut.

Here is an updated list of the Lions' Week 8 inactives:

  • DL Isaiah Buggs
  • CB Steven Gilmore
  • G Jonah Jackson
  • RB David Montgomery
  • DL Levi Onwuzurike
  • C Frank Ragnow
