Matthew Judon Wants Speed with Patriots Draft Pick: Who's His Choice?
New England Patriots Pro Bowl linebacker Matthew Judon is no stranger to speaking his mind. In a recent interview with NFL Network, he voiced his opinion on who the Patriots should select with the No. 14 overall pick.
“I like Quentin Johnston from TCU,” Judon said. “He can catch anything and he can stretch the field. Every year he was at TCU and all he did was make big plays in big-time games. I think eventually that’s a guy that you can’t leave one-on-one. I think he’ll be good matched up with Tyquan (Thornton), because those are two fast guys.”
Johnston was an invaluable asset at TCU last season, leading the team with an impressive 1,069 receiving yards and six touchdown receptions. His contributions were crucial in helping the team make a run to the 2023 College Football National Championship game. However, they ultimately fell short in a one-sided loss to Georgia, 65-7.
Johnston was listed as 6-foot-3 and 208 pounds at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. The wide receiver visited with the Patriots at the combine and told NBC Sports' Phil Perry that the meeting "was very fun and exciting."
If the Patriots select Johnston Friday night, he and 2019 first-round pick N'Keal Harry would be the only wide receivers taken in the first round during the Bill Belichick era.
