Las Vegas Raiders 2023 NFL Draft Day Three Prospects

The Las Vegas Raiders will close out Day Three of the 2023 NFL Draft with eight selections.

The Las Vegas Raiders are almost on the clock, and in just a few hours the Silver and Black will start selecting their first of 12 selections in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The first two days of the draft will determine the priority of the team, and with the rest of the eight picks remaining on Day Three, the Raiders can reinforce the remainder of the team's needs.

That includes the offensive line, defensive line, linebacker and tight end positions.

List of Draft Picks on Day Two: (as of 4/28/23)

Round 4 • Pick 7 (No. 109)

Round 5 • Pick 6 (No. 141)

Round 5 • Pick 9 (No. 144) (From Falcons)

Round 5 • Pick 39 (No 174) (Compensatory Selection)

Round 6 • Pick 27 (No. 204) (From Cowboys)

Round 6 • Pick 37 (No. 214) (Compensatory Selection)

Round 7 • Pick 3 (No. 220) (From Cardinals)

Round 7 • Pick 14 (No. 231) (From Patriots)

While there is a possibility the Raiders might trade away or acquire more draft picks, my projection, different from Editor and Published Hondo S. Carpenter Sr.'s, is based on team needs and what can be selecting the best available player if the Raiders stay put and do not trade away any of their picks.

Potential Selections:

Safety Anthony Johnson Jr., Iowa State Cyclones

With the departure of former first-rounders and free agents leaves holes in the secondary, especially in the safety position. Iowa State’s Anthony Johnson Jr. can be that solution at a low cost. The transition from cornerback to safety carries a lot of positive traits, including his vision and speed, something the Raiders need.

Linebacker Henry To’o To’o, Alabama Crimson Tide

Henry To’oTo’o, the Alabama linebacker is a grinder, he can play any position in the, box but would fit perfectly as a WILL linebacker under defensive coordinator Patrick Graham’s system.

Linebacker Noah Sewell, Oregon Ducks

Noah Sewell is a well-rounded linebacker, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Raiders drafted back-to-back linebackers in the fifth round. Adding a player like Sewell in the middle of the field will allow the defense to cover tight ends and track down the ballcarrier.

Linebacker Owen Pappoe, Auburn Tigers

Let’s talk about speed in the linebacker position, there really isn’t much and that can change on Saturday. Owen Pappoe was the fastest linebacker at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. If either of the two top linebackers are off the board, Pappoe can be a great addition to a Raiders defense that lacks elite speed in the middle of the field.

Defensive Tackle Moro Ojomo, Texas

His quickness off the line is his greatest strength. His ability to move around the line allowed him to get good one-on-one match-ups. Speed kills and this young man can run past offensive linemen and provide help in stopping the run game.

EDGE Jose Ramirez, Eastern Michigan

Jose Ramirez is an intriguing small-school prospect who proved that he belongs with the top prospects. Hailing out of Eastern Michigan, Maxx Crosby’s alma mater, Ramirez has all the potential to become a superstar. He might not be as gifted as Crosby, but with the help of a fellow Eagle, the two can turn out to be a great story.

Guard Atonio Mafi, UCLA Bruins

Atonio Mafi transitioned from a nose tackle to becoming an All-Pac 12 Second-Team offensive lineman. What intrigues me the most about Mafi is his strength and athleticism in the running game. He was one of the biggest reasons why the Bruins have had success running the ball. His durability is another key, as he stayed healthy for four seasons, and at 6-foot-4 and 339 pounds, that’s hard to come by.

Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, UCLA Bruins

If the Raiders fully commit to drafting players who could come in and play right away, then that’s where I see this pick being made. Thompson-Robinson completed his career as UCLA's all-time leader in total offense (12,536 yards--the only UCLA player ever to record over 12,000 yards), completions (860), total touchdowns (116), touchdown passes (88) and passing yards (10,710). His ability to make plays with his feet is what made this dual-threat quarterback stand out in his career.

Quarterback Malik Cunningham, Louisville

Similar to Thompson-Robinson, Malik Cunningham can beat you in many ways, including with his feet. He would break Lamar Jackson's school record by accounting for 120 career touchdowns, 70 passing and 50 rushing. Cunningham had big shoes to fill but was limited by injuries. If he had stayed healthy, we can possibly be talking about him being one of the top quarterbacks taken in this year’s draft. A possible draft steal is waiting to happen.
