Rams Free Agent DT A'Shawn Robinson Signs with Giants
The Los Angeles Rams continue to sit and watch as another key face of their defense officially departs this offseason.
Rams veteran defensive tackle A'Shawn Robinson has found a few home in free agency, as he's signing with the New York Giants, per reports Monday from NFL Network. The one-year deal is worth up to $8 million.
Robinson has been with the Rams for the past three seasons. He leaves LA as a Super Bowl champion, recording six total tackles and one sack in the 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI to finish off the 2021 season.
He also leaves his longtime teammate and Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. Robinson was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round in 2016 and played four years in Detroit before signing with LA in 2020. But as fate would have it, Stafford arrived to the Rams via a blockbuster trade, as the pair wasted no time winning a Super Bowl after being reunited.
Robinson now begins a new journey with an up-and-coming Giants team that made a surprising appearance to the NFC Divisional this past season. He enters his eighth year in the league with 293 total tackles, seven sacks, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 17 passes defended, three blocked kicks, one interception and one touchdown in 93 career games.
