Rams Cooper Kupp Will Be Back at 'Right Time,' LaFleur says

Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur shared good news recently about the status of receiver Cooper Kupp.

Los Angeles Rams fans can rejoice a little after star receiver Cooper Kupp exited practice on Tuesday with a hamstring injury as offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur has given an optimistic update on the 30-year-old's status.

"Yeah, I don't know the total medical stuff with it," LaFleur said on Thursday. "He's day to day. He'll be back in the right time and stuff like that. So he is just going through the rehab process, but he's day to day. He'll be alright."

What's the right time? That is a question that only Kupp and the Rams' medical team may know right now. Yet, any concern following Kupp's ankle injury that forced him to miss the final eight games of last season can be quelled a little bit in the short term.

An injury to their star receiver was exactly what the Rams hoped wouldn't happen just so soon after getting him back from his ankle injury. Until his newest knock, training camp had been going smoothly for No. 10 as he was starting to refind his connection with starting quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Kupp said he felt like they were clicking for the first time since the 2021 season when Stafford was originally traded from the Detroit Lions to L.A. While the day-to-day nature of Kupp's injury will keep the once dynamic duo from continuing to regain the chemistry that saw them lead the Rams to a Super Bowl, they can be thankful that Stafford is fully healthy.

The health of Stafford and Kupp was a major reason for the Rams' downward spiral last season. Even when the pairing was on the field together, Stafford wasn't fully healthy as he was coming off an offseason where he could "barely throw" the football.

Kupp finished last season with 75 catches for 812 yards and six touchdowns, making it his worst season since his second year in the league, where he totaled just 566 yards and six touchdowns while playing in eight games.

The Rams hope that once Kupp returns from his hamstring injury, they can go full-steam ahead in rekindling the connection between him and Stafford.
