Gerald Everette could have filled the Los Angeles Rams' hole at tight end. Instead, he will sign with the Chicago Bears. The Chicago Bears have been one of the most active teams so far in NFL free agency, and they continued that trend as they signed Everett to a two-year contract. He was one of the players that the Los Angeles Rams were looking at to fill the hole left behind by the injury to regular starting tight end Tyler Higbee. Bringing back Everett would have been an intriguing fit for the current Rams, but the Bears ultimately won out in the ned.

Everett was taken by the Rams in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft and spent the first four years of his career with the team. The most receiving yards he had with the team was 417, as he was a backup for Higbee. But now with the Bears, the veteran tight end could have a bigger role.

Could Rams Pursue Ex Chargers Receiver Mike Williams?

Even though signing Everett would have been a solid move for the Rams, the player they ended up with might be a better fit.

Colby Parkinson is only 25 years old and provides both solid blocking and speed at the tight end position, which is exactly what the team needs.
