WATCH: Rams QB Stetson Bennett Makes Highlight Reel Throw in Training Camp

Los Angeles Rams rookie quarterback Stetson Bennett is impressing early into training camp after another highlight throw.
In this story:

For the first time in the Sean McVay era, the Los Angeles Rams have a rookie quarterback hand-picked by the sixth-year coach. Stetson Bennett, the rookie out of the University of Georgia, has earned praise from his teammates like fellow quarterback Matthew Stafford and star receiver Cooper Kupp since joining the Rams, in addition to making an occasional highlight play in practice.

The latest highlight from Bennett was posted Thursday evening on the Rams' social media, as they showed a clip of the rookie quarterback rolling out of the pocket, presumably off-play action while directing traffic downfield before finding Demarcus Robinson.

Mobility isn't a trait the Rams have had at quarterback under McVay, which makes the potential of seeing a Bennett-led offense all the more exciting heading into the preseason.

Yet, even after a storybook career at Georgia, where Bennett went from being a former walk-on who looked unlikely to play in a game to becoming a back-to-back national champion and Heisman finalist, he still has his doubters.

After being listed at 5-foot-11, some are still skeptical of a smaller quarterback like Bennett. But that isn't the only drawback critics have against Bennett, as they also question his arm strength.

While the arm strength and size haven't looked like issues so far into Bennett's career, granted he hasn't played in a game yet, he is locked into a position battle with veteran signal-call Brett Rypien for the QB2 behind Stafford. While it isn't the "quarterback controversy" everyone likes to talk about, the Rams are making sure Bennett earns his spot on the depth chart.
