Ravens WR Odell Beckham Jr. Remembers 'The Catch' and Discusses Future
Ravens' wideout and soon-to-be free agent Odell Cornelious Beckham Jr. was already a name coming out of LSU before he ever played a down in the NFL.
But after being drafted as the No. 12 overall pick in 2014, it was a Nov. 23 Sunday Night Football game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington against the division rival Dallas Cowboys that made OBJ a household name.
"The catch. Sunday Night Football. Giants. Cowboys. I mean, I'm just in flow, you know, and (quarterback) Eli (Manning), he's just so incredible," Beckham Jr. told James Corden on his show, "This Life of Mine with James Corden," on SiriusXM.
"He just puts this ball perfectly exactly where I needed to be as he would joke with me, but I just was so in the moment, like it felt like a moment of slow-mo. It felt like a moment of this is that opportunity."
It was a catch that was called the "catch of the year" by many, and Cris Collinsworth, Tony Dungy, Victor Cruz and LeBron James all hailed it as the "best catch they had ever seen."
OBJ finished his rookie season with 91 catches in 12 games for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns - earning the 2014 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
"To me, it was only like, 'Finally, I caught it one hand.' I didn't know that lightning struck," Beckham said. "I didn't know that my life would forever be changed. I didn't know the magnitude of the moment."
Beckham was traded to the Browns, where he spent three seasons before being cut. OBJ then signed with the Rams, where he scored the first touchdown of Super Bowl LVI before being lost for the game with a knee injury.
After a year of rehab, Beckham signed with the Ravens last offseason, and lost to the Chiefs 17-10 in the AFC Championship game, one win short of another Super Bowl appearance.

OBJ told Corden he hopes there's at least one more Super Bowl in his future.
"[More rings] would be the goal," he said. "I don't know what team, I don't know if it's Baltimore again--I don't know anything--but it would be to win another ring and, hopefully, to play, you know, I'll just put a cap on it and say four years max, be done, and then live my life and create businesses, do things that I love and care for. I just know that this life after football will not be as bad as I've made it to be."
