Former Baltimore Ravens pass-rusher Justin Houston agreed to a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports

Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Justin Houston is moving south as he reportedly agreed to a one-year contract with the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Houston may be 34, but he has proven he can still play at a very high level through his time in Baltimore. The veteran pass-rusher had a decent debut season with the Ravens in 2021, posting 4.5 sacks, but looked like his vintage self with a 9.5-sack season in 2022. Houston not only led the team in sacks, but did so while only starting one game playing 44 percent of the team's defensive snaps.

A four-time Pro Bowl selection, Houston has built quite the resume over his 12 years in the NFL. The former third-round pick has 111.5 career sacks, including 22 in 2014, which is tied for third-most sacks in a single season. He is also tied for the most career safeties in league history at four, among several other accolades.

Now heading to Carolina, Houston joins a Panthers pass rush that had just 35 sacks last season. However, the Panthers do have a bonafide star in linebacker Brian Burns, who had 12.5 sacks by himself in 2022. If Houston can keep performing like he did in Baltimore last season, he can be a very good addition to Carolina's defense even in a limited role.
