Lamar Jackson on Ravens' Blowout Win Over Detroit Lions - 'It's Just One Game!'
In a game billed as a true test for the Baltimore Ravens and the red-hot Detroit Lions, it was the Ravens who aced the test.
With calls for the Baltimore offense under Todd Monken to finally show its real identity, on Sunday, we saw it - and it was impressive.
The Ravens offense was unstoppable in the first half, compiling 355 total yards and averaging a whopping 9.6 yards per play as the scoreboard blew out to 28-0 at halftime.
While the way Baltimore dismantled the Lions was perhaps one of the most impressive things seen in the first seven weeks across the NFL, Lamar Jackson isn't here to crown his team after the win.
“I mean when we when we doing we supposed to what we supposed to do, I always say the skies is the limit for us, and we just showed a glimpse,” Jackson said. “I'm all right with winning but still regular season you know, and we made strides for improvement from last week and early on in the season, I believe, but it's just one regular season game.”
With the win, the Ravens move to 5-2 and are now positioning themselves for a serious playoff run.
While yes, it is early in the season, such was the beatdown on Sunday that saw Baltimore take not only the Lions' souls but also their lunch money and anything else you can think of, the Ravens are now being looked at differently across the NFL.
Many have wondered exactly what the offense would look like under Monken when it all clicked, and on Sunday, it was devastating.
While the offensive explosion against Detroit was good for Jackson, consistency is the name of the game going forward.
“I mean, it's pretty good you know, that's what we expected that's what we expect out of each other," Jackson said. "You know our offense to be moving the ball down the field no problem and putting points on the board, but we need to just keep being consistent that's the biggest aspect I got out of this game.”
The Ravens face the plucky Arizona Cardinals in Week 8 before another tricky assignment as they welcome the Seattle Seahawks to M&T Bank Stadium in Week 9.
But if this is now the standard for the Baltimore offense under Monken, then one would imagine that it will take something herculean to stop what Jackson and his embarrassment of riches on offense are doing.
