Ravens New QB-WR Duo Among NFL's Best?
This upcoming season has the potential to be Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson's best.
And yes, even more so than his MVP-winning campaign in 2019.
Under new offensive coordinator Todd Monken - a system geared towards throwing the ball more - along with the additions of wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and rookie Zay Flowers, Jackson enters the year with more weapons than ever.
Despite Beckham last playing an NFL game on Feb. 13, 2022, the potential to be a top target in Baltimore is still there for the three-time Pro Bowler.
CBS Sports, in their "Ranking NFL's new QB-WR duos in 2023," expressed the boom-or-bust potential for this duo entering the upcoming year.
"Todd Monken's offense is expected to have Jackson throw the ball more, with Beckham being his No. 1 wide receiver in a revamped receiving room," CBS Sports said. "Beckham didn't play a game in 2022 due to recovering from a torn ACL in Super Bowl LVI, but will be 100% come September. This duo is certainly a wild card given the new offensive system and how Beckham recovers from his ACL. The last version of Beckham with a good quarterback in Matthew Stafford produced results."
After spending his first five career seasons as a member of the New York Giants, Beckham was traded to the Cleveland Browns in March of 2019.
And despite his production slightly dropping on the Browns, the former Offensive Rookie of the Year still showcased the ability to be an elite wideout - racking up 1,035 receiving yards, 74 receptions and four touchdowns in 2019.
"With a higher target share in Baltimore, Beckham has an opportunity to return to the production he saw in his early days with the Cleveland Browns -- at the very least," CBS Sports writes. "He can also change the narrative surrounding Jackson as well."
Jackson has already expressed his "excitement" for this new and improved pass-heavy offense, now it's just time to translate that joy into wins.
