'Mix of Brandin Cooks & Antonio Brown'? Former Ravens S Praises Rookie WR Zay Flowers

Former Baltimore Ravens safety Tony Jefferson Jr. tweeted some high praise for first-round draft pick Zay Flowers on Tuesday.
In this story:

The Baltimore Ravens enter their 2023 campaign with lofty expectations - especially offensively.

After locking down quarterback Lamar Jackson to a long-term deal, signing wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Nelson Agholor through free agency and drafting speedy wideout Zay Flowers in the first-round, Baltimore has all the pieces to make a deep playoff run.

But what exactly is Flowers' ceiling entering his rookie year? While it's unrealistic to expect him to carry the bulk of the receiving load, new offensive coordinator Todd Monken has already expressed the team's willingness to get creative with his skill-set.

That skill-set includes being a lethal weapon after the catch, where he posted an average of 42.9 yards per game last season at Boston College.

Former Ravens safety Tony Jefferson Jr. took it a step further on Tuesday, stating that Flowers "looks like a mix of Brandin Cooks & Antonio Brown on film."

Comparing Flowers to two of the better receivers of this generation may some lofty, but deservedly so for the 2022 third-team All American.

Over his four years at Boston College, the 22-year-old racked up 200 career receptions, 3,056 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns.

And through the early stages of rookie minicamp, Flowers appears destined to be a Day 1 starter, whether it be returning kicks, or lining up next to Beckham and Rashod Bateman in the slot.
