Ravens WR Zay Flowers Unique Skill Set; Lamar Jackson's New Favorite Option?
When news broke on Thursday that the Baltimore Ravens ended months-long contract disputes with quarterback Lamar Jackson, it eased the minds of fans everywhere.
And shortly there after, Baltimore proved how serious it is to build a title contender around the former MVP - selecting Boston College wide receiver Zay Flowers in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Flowers, a third-team All American in 2022, torched the ACC over his four years with the Eagles - amassing 200 career receptions, 3,056 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns.
However, the most impressive aspect of his resume isn't that he finished his career as Boston College's all-time leader in each of the aforementioned categories. Instead, it's what he did after the catch that's even more eye-opening.
Per Sarah Ellison, a co-host of Ravens Vault with Blue Wire Pods, Flowers raked in an average of 42.9 yards after the catch per game last season.
To make this statistic even more insane, all other Ravens receivers managed an average of 32.4 yards per game ... combined.
Outside of tight end Mark Andrews, there was not a single pass-catcher that finished with over 500 receiving yards in Baltimore last season, allowing for Flowers to make an immediate impact entering his rookie campaign.
And while bringing in the likes of Odell Beckham Jr. and Nelson Agholor bring much-needed depth to the position, Flowers' ability to pick up extra yardage after the catch brings a new element to the Ravens' offense.
