'Wheels Will Fall Off!' NFL Analyst Wrong On Ravens?
After a strong offseason from the Baltimore Ravens, fans and analysts alike are excited to see what they can do this season. With Lamar Jackson's contract secured and the addition of the receiver duo of Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers, it isn't hard to see why the excitement exists.
However, not every analyst agrees with crowning the Ravens as offseason Super Bowl contenders. In fact, NFL Network analyst Adam Rank was rather low on them in when predicting their final record - which he believes will be 9-8. "The Ravens always start off as a house of fire, putting together a ton of wins, then the wheels just kind of fall off," Rank said. "I look at the back end of that schedule, I think the same thing is going to happen this season."
"I know Arizona is not a very good team, but you know as well as I do, the Ravens always have that one inexplicable loss, and it's going to be against the Cardinals," Rank said. Despite having the Ravens starting a dazzling 8-2, including tough wins over AFC North foes the Cincinnati Bengals and a pair of tough NFC wins over the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks. The two losses, though, come in head-scratching fashion to another AFC North rival in the Cleveland Browns as well as the aforementioned Arizona loss.
From there, well, it is not pretty for the Ravens according to Rank, who has them completely flaming out to end their season. Going 1-6 down the home stretch, with their lone win coming against a Los Angeles Rams team that might be tanking by that time of the season. Predicting the Ravens to win only nine games is a fool's errand for Rank, as Baltimore has failed to reach double-digit wins only once with Jackson leading the offense - going 8-9 in 2021, with their superstar quarterback only appearing in 12 games.
There is plenty of reason for excitement about the Ravens this season, especially with the offensive additions and prospect of a fully healthy Jackson. While predicting the future isn't possible, Baltimore will undoubtedly do what it can to prove Rank wrong.
