Ravens Odell Beckham Jr.: Could NFL's 'Biggest Distraction' Turn Sour?
The Baltimore Ravens ignited the offseason and created one of the biggest stories of 2023 by signing Odell Beckham Jr. and appeasing Lamar Jackson in the process.
According to Bleacher Report, though, the dust will soon settle and Odell's fit within the organization may shift sour.
"If Beckham doesn't gel with Baltimore's run-heavy attack and isn't getting enough touches in an offense that also features Rashod Bateman, Mark Andrews and exciting rookie prospect Zay Flowers, the wideout could quickly turn sour and tank the chemistry in Baltimore's locker room," Bleacher Report writes.
Well, let's just unpack the obvious. This is a major compliment to what the Ravens have built. Baltimore's offense is loaded with talent, and the 30-year-old OBJ is a stellar addition to the team.
It's also assuming Beckham didn't consider these things before signing with the organization. If you'll remember, offensive powerhouses like the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs, along with the New England Patriots were heavily rumored to be playing the OBJ lottery.
Beckham wasn't stuck with the Ravens, he chose to join a stacked roster.
"It now remains to be seen if the 30-year-old can return to full strength and continue playing at a high level," the outlet continued. "While he was a strong addition to L.A.'s roster... he messily forced his way out of the Cleveland Browns' organization following two-and-a-half disappointing seasons," Bleacher Report added.
Again, this needs serious unpacking. You're telling me Odell left a "sour" situation in Cleveland and revitalized his career with an organization like the Rams to help lead a team to a Super Bowl?
The Ravens have signed a receiver who plays better in favorable situations. The Odell signing was the No. 2 ranked distraction in the NFL, per Bleacher Report. Do with that what you will. It's all smoke and mirrors to me.
