The Lions arrived in Baltimore as one of the hottest teams in the NFL. They left with their proverbial tails between their legs.

The Ravens jumped on Detroit early and often and kept the pressure on the entire game. At one point in the first quarter, the Lions had run nine total plays, while Baltimore had seven plays of more than 20 yards en route to a 38-6 massacre.

Lions coach Dan Campbell said they "probably needed" the loss.

“You don’t want these to happen but when it does, it recenters you, it refocuses you and that’s all I know,” Campbell said. “I don’t want it to happen. Nobody wants it to happen. Nobody likes to look over there and watch them having a great time because they kicked our ass. Nobody thinks that’s fun, but I know that motivates me for next week, it motivates our team. I know you’ll do any and everything you can not to have that feeling again, so that’s all I mean by that.”

Campbell also said "our detail and discipline" was subpar throughout the entire game.

The win maintains a half-game lead in the tight AFC North for the Ravens (5-2), as the Steelers (4-2) beat the Rams 24-17 in the afternoon slot of league games while the Browns (4-2) edged out the Colts 39-38. The Bengals (3-3) had a bye in Week 7.

The Ravens hope to maintain this mid-season momentum in Arizona against the Cardinals next week, while the Lions hope to get back on track against the Raiders from Ford Field in Detroit on Monday Night Football.
