Former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Robert Griffin III said that one of the biggest accomplishments in his career was watching Lamar Jackson become NFL MVP in 2019.

"One of my biggest accomplishments was, in 2019, when Lamar Jackson won MVP and I got to be a part of that," Griffin III said. "Got to be a part of that, watch him grow from being a rookie to a second year player. Watching him go from the guy that was supposed to be the next guy, to being the guy."

Jackson had a stellar 2019 season, throwing for 3,127 yards and 36 touchdowns with just six interceptions. He also added 1,206 rushing yards, the most ever in one season by a quarterback, and seven rushing touchdowns. The Ravens finished the season as the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC with a 14-2 record.

Robert Griffin III was drafted No. 2 overall by the Washington Commanders in the 2012 NFL Draft.

He won the MVP by unanimous vote, becoming only the second player ever to do that after Tom Brady did it with the New England Patriots in 2010.

“To be able to be a part of watching him go from people wanting him to play wide receiver, move to running back or return punts, to being one of the most dynamic forces at the quarterback position we’ve ever seen in NFL history, I take no credit for what he’s done, but I certainly am proud to have been a part of it”

Griffin III played three seasons for Baltimore from 2018-2020 and was signed to be a backup and a mentor to Jackson. He had come into the league as one of the most highly touted quarterback prospects, but had his career derailed due to injuries and mismanagement.
