Ravens Trade Call on WR Jerry Jeudy: Broncos' Price Too High?
The Baltimore Ravens are locked in a contract standoff with Lamar Jackson. While that dominates the headlines, something else should also be addressed.
The Ravens' receiving room.
Aside from tight end Mark Andrews (who has nearly double the amount of receiving yards over the next best guy), the Ravens were seriously lacking in wide receiver talent last season.
With rumors swirling that the Denver Broncos are open to listening to offers for Jerry Jeudy, could Baltimore make a run at the receiver?
They should, but the stumbling block could be the compensation the Broncos are after. Reportedly wanting "at least" a first-round pick per the Athletic, the asking price could be somewhat steep for the Ravens.
But would it be worth it?
Jeudy's production since entering the league in 2020 doesn't scream star receiver, but he is coming off a career-best year in THAT Denver offense. He totaled career-highs in catches (67), receiving yards (972), yards per game (64.8), and touchdowns (6).
So that is something to work with. Additionally, Jeudy is entering the final year of his four-year, $15 million rookie contract and has a base salary of just $2.6 million in 2023.
That is more than doable for the Ravens.
The sticking point could be that Jeudy will want a significant new extension after this season. The market value for receivers is around $20 million APY, which could be too rich for Baltimore.
But getting a weapon like Jeudy could ease the offensive workload on Andrews and give the Ravens quarterback (whoever that will be) weapons to utilize.
If nothing else, it is worth the Ravens' front office at least picking up the phone.
