Lamar Jackson ‘Ends Up  Signing with Ravens,’ Predicts Rap Sheet

"I know the Ravens still wanna get a deal done with Lamar Jackson and I think he still ends up back in Baltimore,” Rap said on the Pat McAfee Show.
In this story:

Amid all of the rumors and the gossip and the backstabbing and maybe some negotiating, the offseason saga of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has in a sense never really gone anywhere.

And in the end, after all of the speculation on his future, maybe where the Lamar saga ends up is …

Right back here in Baltimore.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Monday put a fairly fine point on the situation by issuing a prediction.

"I know the Ravens still wanna get a deal done with Lamar Jackson and I think he still ends up back in Baltimore,” Rap said on the Pat McAfee Show.

This particular option is not the one that has dominated the talking points of the NFL offseason.

What has?

Jackson's desire to sign a new contract beyond the tag offer … and his desire to play for a new team as a result of the Ravens position … and accusations back and forth.

Those have been the sort of issues that have grabbed the headlines. And all of them have complicated the issue.

Maybe there is another bidder lurking. in the Indianapolis Colts. Bleacher Report suggests that the Colts still feel like a "logical landing spot" for the 2019 NFL MVP.

“Between now and April 27, [Indianapolis Colts general manager] Ballard could decide that Jackson is a better option than any quarterback he's going to land with the fourth overall pick," Bleacher Report writes. "The Colts might be more inclined to make a move after the draft if they're unwilling to part with the fourth overall selection and/or don't find a quarterback they like at No. 4."

Sure. Maybe. But the Colts aside, we still think the most pure and true contender for Jackson's services is the same Ravens franchise that knows him best.

Would the Ravens really be better off with two first-round picks than with Jackson? Would Jackson really better off in Indy than in Baltimore?

Baltimore can keep sitting on this. Lamar can do the same. But in the end, Rap is right - the two parties will probably end up sitting together.
