Pittsburgh Steelers' Mike Tomlin Praises 'Dynamic' Baltimore Ravens Rookie Zay Flowers

"Zay Flowers, can't say enough about him. Dynamic player. Not surprised that he's having the type of success that he's having. I've personally seen a lot of him," Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said.

The Baltimore Ravens are probably impressed with how rookie receiver Zay Flowers has began his career.

Flowers hasn't found the end zone yet through four games, but he leads the team with 24 receptions for 244 yards so far this season. He's long caught the eye of Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin.

"Zay Flowers, can't say enough about him. Dynamic player. Not surprised that he's having the type of success that he's having. I've personally seen a lot of him," Tomlin said. "His tangible talents are one thing and those are obvious. He's got really good speed, short-area burst, change of direction, body control and those things. But what I quickly understood about him from watching him at BC [Boston College] is … his calling card is the fearlessness in his play."

With injuries to Rashod Bateman and Odell Beckham Jr., Flowers' role in the offense has only grown in importance. His success can be accredited to his hard work, which he's flashed ever since being drafted by the Ravens with the No. 22 pick in April's draft.

“What we saw in him in the draft process, he’s shown it and then some,” assistant coach Keith Williams said during training camp. “The one thing about him is that he is a hard worker, aside from the traits and the speed, all the characteristics, his skill set is obviously there, but the thing that I was impressed by is that he’s a worker.

"He’s very smart, and he wants to get better every day. He’s hungry to be the kind of player that we all think he can be. He brings that attitude to work every day. That part's been really impressive."

Flowers and the Ravens look to prove Tomlin right on Sunday when they visit the Steelers at Acrisure Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
