Saints Lose Another Coach to Sean Payton and Broncos
Former New Orleans Saints and new Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton has added another former assistant to his Broncos staff. Per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, the New Orleans Saints are losing offensive assistant Declan Doyle to Denver.
Doyle began his coaching career as a student assistant at the University of Iowa in 2016 until his graduation in 2018. He's been with the Saints for the last four seasons. Doyle coached the tight ends for the American Team at the Senior Bowl and was expected to serve in that same capacity for the Saints. Instead, he's been hired as Payton's TE Coach in Denver.
This is the second of Payton's former assistants to be pulled from the New Orleans staff. Offensive Line Assistant Coach Zach Strief was hired as Denver's new offensive line coach last week.
Ronald Curry, the Saints current QB coach and Passing Game coordinator, was interviewed for Denver's offensive coordinator position. No official hire has yet been announced for the spot. Saints offensive assistant Kevin Petry was also interviewed by the Broncos, but has since announced that he will remain with New Orleans.
