Russell Wilson Reacts To Pete Carroll OUT As Seahawks Coach: 'Keep Shooting!'

Denver Broncos QB Russell Wilson Reacts To Pete Carroll OUT As Seahawks Coach: 'Keep Shooting!'
In this story:

A year ago, the Russell Wilson Era in Seattle ended. Today, the Pete Carroll Era followed suit.

And Russ gets it.

"One of the Greatest Ever. 'Keep Shooting' Coach," Wilson wrote on social media. "Grateful for the memories. @PeteCarroll Best is Ahead."

That post came a couple of hours after the Seattle Seahawks announced that the iconic coach Carroll won't be in charge any more as he slides into a role as an "advisor.''

The shift is a shock to some. ... and now a search begins to find Carroll's replacement, with a source telling CowboysSI.com that Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator - who held that same role under Carroll in Seattle's Super Bowl years - has jumped up on the "wish list'' as a result of the change.

And to others? Wilson's departure from Seattle was not a smooth one as he worked his way into a trade. (And things are not very smooth right now for him in Denver, either.) So it's nice to see a pleasantry being offered here in the form of a classy message from Wilson.

Carroll and Wilson (and Quinn!) did terrific things here and created forever memories here together in Seattle, capped by the winning of a Super Bowl on Feb. 2, 2014.

"After thoughtful meetings and careful consideration for the best interest of the franchise, we have amicably agreed with Pete Carroll that his role will evolve from Head Coach to remain with the organization as an advisor," Seahawks owner Jody Allen said. "Pete is the winningest coach in Seahawks history, brought the city its first Super Bowl title, and created a tremendous impact over the past 14 years on the field and in the community."

And Russell Wilson gets it.
