Seahawks 90-Man Countdown: LS Chris Stoll - Decorated Specialist Primed to Start?

Looking to fill the shoes of former Pro Bowl long snapper Tyler Ott, Chris Stoll has the inside track to a roster spot with the Seattle Seahawks after a decorated college career at Penn State.
In this story:

With the calendar flipping to June and offseason activities well underway league-wide, the Seattle Seahawks will open training camp at the VMAC in less than two months, officially ushering in the 2023 season.

To celebrate the new incoming season, I will be detailing every member of the Seahawks 90-man roster over the next several weeks, exploring best and worst case scenarios and what to expect from each player entering the 2023 campaign.

Chris Stoll, Long Snapper

Height/Weight: 6-2, 255 pounds

2022 Stats*: 13 starts

*College stats at Penn State

A multi-sport athlete at St. Francis DeSales High School, Stoll opted to walk on at Penn State and after not seeing any playing time in his first two years on campus, he took over as the full-time long snapper. Playing in 48 career games, he would hold that role over the next four seasons, winning the Patrick Mannelly Award as the nation's best long snapper in 2022.

Participating in the East/West Shrine Game all-star showcase in February, Stoll signed with the Seahawks as a priority undrafted free agent shortly after the conclusion of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Best-Case Scenario: Snapping flawlessly while building chemistry with kicker Jason Myers and punter Michael Dickson throughout the offseason program and training camp, Stoll's steady performance prevents Seattle from signing an experienced veteran to compete against him and he wins the job outright.

Worst-Case Scenario: Misfiring a handful of snaps on the practice field and struggling with consistency, the Seahawks bring back Tyler Ott during training camp and Stoll gets cut before the second preseason game.

What to Expect in 2023: Out of all of Seattle's undrafted rookies, Stoll has the easiest route to a roster spot since the team decided not to re-sign Ott or Carson Tinker, who played well as an injury replacement last season. Assuming additional competition isn't brought in after camp starts, the job remains his to lose. As long as he handles his specialty without any hitches and doesn't give the coaching staff reason to doubt him, he should be a lock to make the opening day roster.
