Seattle Seahawks' Jamal Adams, Bobby Wagner Used as Audibles By Buffalo Bills in Week 8 Win
The Seattle Seahawks will play two Thursday Night Football games this season—Weeks 12 and 13—but that didn’t stop them from becoming a topic of interest in the Week 8 edition of TNF.
On Thursday, the Buffalo Bills hosted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, beating them 24-18 and righting the ship after an abysmal three weeks of football. They did so largely off the back of a resurgent offensive outing.
Quarterback Josh Allen looked like the MVP candidate fans have grown to expect and secondary options in the passing game had their best collective game of the season. Receivers Gabe Davis and Khalil Shakir, along with rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid, all had strong showings. To add, Allen was utilized on a handful of designed rushes that had alluded the offense in recent weeks, best exemplified by a touchdown-scoring quarterback draw.
Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and the rest of the staff deserve credit for making the necessary adjustments during a short week.
Some adjustments came at the line of scrimmage, though. That’s where the Seahawks come in.
Prime Video’s microphones caught some of Allen’s audible calls on Thursday. Among them were Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams and linebacker Bobby Wagner. Notable NBA players LeBron James and J.R. Smith also heard their names called on the broadcast.
It may be a pipe dream to figure out what exactly those audibles meant. For what it’s worth, “Jamal Adams” preceded Allen hitting star receiver Stefon Diggs for a three-yard gain. The “Bobby Wagner” adjustment was more fruitful. Out of empty, a couple of slants, a whip route, and (seemingly) two vertical routes opened up the middle of the field. Allen scrambled for a first down.
Perhaps Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith will return the favor with a “Josh Allen” audible on Sunday when Seattle hosts the Cleveland Browns for a pivotal Week 8 contest.
