Seahawks Offensive Depth on Display During Preseason

The Seattle Seahawks offense showed its potential during its first two preseason games, and Geno Smith could have an embarrassment of riches at his disposal if all goes to plan.
In this story:

The Seattle Seahawks have won their first two preseason games and are in a confident mood with the regular season coming into focus.

With wins over the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys, coach Pete Carroll is happy with how his team is playing.

"Good, successful night," Carroll said after Saturday's 22-14 win over Dallas. "Coming out here again to Lumen, playing really good, hard football. Really pleased with the overall feeling of the game from start to finish

Offensive coordinator Shane Waldron might share similar feelings, as his unit has scored 46 points in two games.

While the starters have seen very little playing time this preseason, opportunities were abundant for players hoping to secure a roster spot or simply looking to impress the coaches.

Seattle has had several young players make statements through the first two exhibition games, with the likes of Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Jake Bobo showing what they can add to what is already a top-10 offense.

Through two games, Smith-Njigba has five catches for 83 yards, Bobo has five catches for 98 yards and a touchdown, and there are others who, against the Cowboys, will no doubt have given Carroll and Waldron something to think about.

Rookie receiver Tyjon Lindsey caught three passes for 36 yards, and second-year receiver Cody Thompson (one catch, 32 yards) also showcased that they could potentially be called upon.

Then there is rookie running back Zach Charbonnet, who got loose in the Cowboys' secondary as he rushed for 31 yards on three attempts to go with his four rushes for 14 yards against the Vikings.

The core of Seattle's offense is arguably seen as one of the better groups in the league, and adding Smith-Njigba and Charbonnet (both high draft picks) and complementing that with some surprises in Bobo and Lindsey could give the Seahawks some serious options at Geno Smith's disposal.

The Green Bay Packers await at Lambeau Field on Saturday in the third and final preseason game with a host of young players looking to make one final push for a roster spot.
