Bears Make Former Steelers WR Chase Claypool Inactive
PITTSBURGH -- The Chicago Bears have ruled former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receveiver Chase Claypool inactive for the team's Week 5 matchup with the Washington Commanders. This is the second-consecutive game Claypool will not dress.
Claypool and the Bears have had some sorts of falling out as of late. After a tough opening week, Claypool caught a touchdown in Week 2, but then again struggled the following gameday. He then commented on the Bears useage of him, saying he believes they do not utilize properly.
Afterward, Claypool was made inactive for the team's Week 4 game and told not to come to the stadium. He was then informed to stay home throughout the next week.
According to TheScore's Jordan Schultz, the team is currently seeking a trade for the wideout, asking for either a fifth or sixth-round draft pick. The belief is that Chicago will release him if they cannot find a trade partner.
Claypool only played 11 games with the Bears after being traded for a second-round pick at last year's deadline. The Steelers eventually used that pick, the 32rd overall, to select cornerback Joey Porter Jr.
