Browns Trade Former Steelers QB to Cardinals
PITTSBURGH -- The Cleveland Browns are trading former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Josh Dobbs to the Arizona Cardinals, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
The Browns are sending Dobbs and a 2024 seventh-round pick to Arizona in exchange for a 2024 fifth-round pick. This comes just hours after Cleveland named the former Steelers' fourth-round pick the team's backup behind Deshaun Watson.
They'll now turn to rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson as their No. 2.
The trade allows Dobbs to compete for a starting job with the Cardinals, who have not yet named a starter. Kyler Murray remains sidelined while he recovers from ACL surgery.
Dobbs will compete with Colt McCoy and rookie Clayton Tune.
Dobbs will join his fourth NFL team since spending three years in Pittsburgh. He spent one year with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019 before returning to the Steelers.
In eight games in the NFL, he's completed 50 of 85 pass attempts for two touchdowns and three interceptions. He's also rushed for 75 yards.
