Former QB Teases Wanting to Return to Steelers

The former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback may have tossed his hat in the ring after their latest game.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are desperately looking for an answer at quarterback after they benched Mitch Trubisky in Week 15 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Right now, it appears Mason Rudolph is the Steelers' starter until Kenny Pickett returns from a high ankle sprain. That expected timeframe isn't for at least another two weeks, although he's "pushing" to return sooner.

If he can't, former Steelers quarterback Devlin 'Duck' Hodges has tossed his hat in the ring. After the team's loss to the Colts, Hodges sent a tweet that had Steelers fans buzzing.

Now, one could say that's pointing to something else, but most understood exactly what Hodges was saying. The former Steelers QB started six games for Pittsburgh back in 2019. He went 3-3 as a starter, throwing five touchdowns to eight interceptions.

The Steelers will likely open up a quarterback competition this week to decide between starting Rudolph or Trubisky. And maybe, Hodges makes a phone call and sees if his old coach needs another option.
