Texans OL Kendrick Green Takes Shot at Steelers

The former Pittsburgh Steelers lineman is glad he left.

PITTSBURGH -- Offensive lineman Kendrick Green will face his former team this weekend for the first time when the Houston Texans host the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4.

Green told KPRC2's Aaron Wilson he's excited to see his former teammates when they come to town, but once the whistle blows, it's just another game.

When asked about the situation, though, Green made it clear he didn't want to be in Pittsburgh anymore.

"I’m glad it happened. I’m glad I’m not there anymore," Green said.

"I’m just looking at it as just another game, going out there to play my best. Just good that I’ll see some familiar faces on the other side. Got put in a pretty tough spot when I was there, and just think it’s fortunate the way it worked out."

Green's time in Pittsburgh was different. After he was drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, he spent his first season as the starting center after not playing center in college. The next year, after moving back to guard, he was inactive for the entire season.

This summer during training camp, Green was tested on the offensive line and at fullback, but never found a groove in the system. Eventually, he ended up in Houston and is now in their starting lineup with an opportunity to meet his former team in Week 4.
