Report: Steelers Interested in Colts RB Jonathan Taylor

The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly looking for an upgrade at running back.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have fought hard to find a successful running game in Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, and have succeeded as of late. But despite coming off a 100-yard rushing game against the Raiders, the team is reportedly interested in changing things up in the backfield.

According to A to Z Sports' Destin Adams, the Steelers are one of seven teams who have expressed interest in trading for Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor as he begins working his way back to the field.

Taylor appears to be ready to begin ramping up his workload to prepare to return to a team this season. That team, however, isn't expected to be the Colts, who have allowed the running back to seek a trade.

The feud between the two sides is over a contract situation as the 24-year-old is seeking a second NFL deal, and one that should make him one of the top paid at his position.

In just three seasons in the NFL, Taylor has rushed for 3,841 yards and 33 touchdowns, and led the league in rushing yards (1,811) and touchdowns (18) in 2021.

Last season, he played just 11 games due to an ankle injury.

Reports throughout the summer have claimed that the Colts are asking for at least a first-round pick in exchange for Taylor. The deal will also come with the expectation Taylor will receive a long-term deal with his new team.
