'Big Game': Steelers' T.J. Watt Looking to Spoil Brother's Big Day
PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt will face the Houston Texans in Week 4 with the goal of moving his team's winning streak to three games. But during halftime at NRG Stadium, Watt will join the rest in attendance to honor his brother, J.J.
J.J., who retired this past offseason after 12 years in the NFL, will be inducted into the Texans Ring of Honor in Week 4 against the Steelers. Watt, speaking with Texans media, said he's excited to see his brother's induction, but is still looking to beat Houston.
"It's going to be different being back there without him playing. It's going to be awesome seeing him be received the way he deserves to be received. It's going to be pretty special," Watt told KPRC2's Aaron Wilson. "For me, it's all about remembering it's a big game. At the end of the day, there's a game to be played."
Watt credited his older brother for creating the "blueprint" for him to success. Watt, the 2021 Defensive Player of the Year winner, is chasing his brother's three DPOY awards, looking to add his season this season.
"I took it for granted how dominant he was," Watt said. "It's a testament to who he is and how he prepares."
And as for his impact in Houston and being inducted by the Texans, Watt knows just how deserving his brother is of the honor.
"My brother is a phenomenal human being. What you see is what you get," Watt said. "He's so transparent with his fans. He's been such a great husband, brother and father. I'm so appreciative I get to be a part of it with the sacrifice he put into his career, to have the impact he had on the community is admirable to say the least."
