Jaguars Challenge Steelers WR George Pickens

The Pittsburgh Steelers star receiver probably didn't need any bulletin board material, but he got some.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars should be a tight-fought battle against two of the best in the AFC. Pittsburgh has done nothing but praise their opponent this week, and Jacksonville has done much of the same. But one comment from the Jaguars locker room made it's way to the headlines and is providing plenty of bulletin board material for a star wide receiver.

George Pickens doesn't need any extra kick on game days. The second-year pro has three 100-yard games this season, including back-to-back in the team's last two matchups. But, according to Jacksonville, he hasn't met a cornerback room like theirs.

"I know that the receiver we have coming in this week, No. 14, he has high yards per catch. But respectfully, he hasn't played our corners yet. So I'll say that," Jaguars safety Rayshawn Jenkins said.

Maybe Jenkins didn't mean to sound like he was challenging Pickens, but it surely came across as such.

Pickens, who was asked his thoughts on the Jaguars secondary, said the defense has a whole relies on the d-line.

"I think their D-Line, they depend on their D-Line a lot," Pickens said. "With their team having a lot of first-round guys on that D-Line, that's what they depend on a lot. They kind of hope, hope the guys hold up long enough, so it's kinda a 'hope defense' for sure."

How this battle plays out in Week 8 will be determined this weekend, but there's a good chance Pickens and Jenkins get some shots at each other in this one.
