Joey Porter Jr. Leaves Steelers Game With Injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback left in the first half.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers defense got hit with a worrisome injury as cornerback Joey Porter Jr. came off the field after being injured in the first half of Week 17 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Porter Jr. left in the second quarter following a tackle on Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf. He remained on the ground after the following play as trainers ran out to assist him. They then took him to the medical tent for further evaluation.

It's unknown what the injury is at this time.

The Steelers are already thin at cornerback, with Patrick Peterson being forced to play safety in place of an injured Minkah Fitzpatrick. Without Porter Jr., Pittsburgh will be left with Levi Wallace and James Pierre at outside corner, with Chandon Sullivan and Elijah Riley on the inside.

Porter Jr. has been the team's top cornerback all season, trailing the opposing team's top wide receiver, including Metcalf, against the Seahawks.

All Steelers will continue to provide updates on Porter Jr.'s injury as more information becomes available.
