Patrick Mahomes Passes Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger on Playoff List
PITTSBURGH -- With his latest AFC Championship victory, 17-10 over the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens on the road, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has already surpassed a now-retired Pittsburgh Steelers legend in career playoff wins.
This past weekend's win in Baltimore was the 14th playoff victory of Mahomes' career, tying him for third all-time in postseason wins with former Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw and three others and moving him past Ben Roethlisberger, who amassed 13 before retiring two years ago.
Bradshaw retired at 35 years old and Roethlisberger hung up his cleats at age 39. Mahomes, meanwhile, is just 28 and still in the middle of his prime. He's won 14 of his 17 playoff starts, giving him a .823 winning percentage in the postseason that surpasses the records Bradshaw (14-5 record in the playoffs, .736) and Roethlisberger (13-10, .565) posted.
Mahomes has played in three Super Bowls (with a fourth appearance on the way in two weeks) and won two of them. Roethlisberger has him tied with two Super Bowl titles in three tries and Bradshaw has them both beat with four rings earned in four appearances.
Mahomes is a giant in the NFL's present day and continues to climb up the record books as his historic career marches on, leaving at least two Steelers legends and many others behind in the process.
