The Pittsburgh Steelers are beginning to trim their 90-man roster.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have begun making roster cuts as they finalize their 53-man roster for the regular season. The team announced the release of eight players to start their trim.

The Steelers have released cornerback Madre Harper, defensive back Nevelle Clarke, defensive lineman James Nyamawaya, linebackers Kuony Deng and Forrest Rhyne, kicker B.T. Potter, long snapper Rex Seunahara and wide receiver Dan Chisena.

Unlikely years past, Pittsburgh will need to get down from 90 to 53 before the Tuesday deadline. They'll practice twice more before that date, and will likely continue to make adjustments to whom they're keeping as competition battles come down to the wire.

Prior to this season, there were periodic cut dates, which narrowed the roster as they approached the regular season.

All Steelers Talk released their final 53-man roster prediction, which features a surprising move at wide receiver and cornerback on the team's final roster.
