Steelers TE Working Through Minor Injury

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Zach Gentry's foot injury isn't expected to be long-term.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers were without a veteran tight end as they opened a new week of practice following the preseason finale.

Zach Gentry was seen in a walking boot, but Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he is "fine" and that whatever is ailing his left foot is not a long-term issue.

The Steelers still have two weeks before they kick off the 2023 regular season against the San Francisco 49ers, plenty of time for Gentry to recover from the small setback.

Gentry played in the Steelers' 24-0 win over the Atlanta Falcons in the preseason finale last week, primarily with the second and third teams and on special teams.

Rookie Darnell Washington has put together a strong camp and appears in position to leapfrog Gentry on the depth chart. Washington has been taking more and more snaps with the first and second teams as he puts a bow on a strong debut training camp with the Steelers.
