Steelers Named Landing Spot for Trey Lance
PITTSBURGH -- The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly exploring options for their former first-round quarterback Trey Lance as they move forward with Brock Purdy and Sam Darnold as their starter and backup. And the Pittsburgh Steelers have made a surprise appearance as a candidate for a trade.
At BetOnline.ag, eight teams currently lead the way in odds to land Lance. The Minnesota Vikings take the top spot at 3/1, followed by the Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Rams at 4/1. The Miami Dolphins (5/1), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6/1) and Las Vegas Raiders (9/1) all list afterward, and then there are two somewhat surprising teams.
Sitting at 12/1 odds, the Steelers and the Green Bay Packers round out the list of candidates for Lance. Both have young quarterbacks entering their first full seasons as starters, and apparently, the sportsbooks don't have too much faith that they'll pan out before their teams take a chance on someone new.
Kenny Pickett enters the season after an impressive summer and preseason. Through two exhibition games, he's led three touchdown drives, including two that he finished with passes. The team appears high on his potential in 2023, but if he struggles, the odds says he could be replaced.
Will it happen? Chances are it won't, but there's also a strong chance he doesn't give them a reason to think about replacing him anytime soon.
