Steelers Captain Cam Heyward Fires Back at Ben Roethlisberger

Cam Heyward disagrees with Ben Roethlisberger's criticisms of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers' last two losses to the Arizona Cardinals and the New England Patriots have left just about everyone in the city with a bad taste in their mouths.

There are even some former Steelers who have called out the culture within the team right now. Ben Roethlisberger called out the coaching and Ryan Clark said no one in the locker room cares about the franchises' values. But current team captain Cam Heyward disagrees and pushed back on those comments.

“Ben has an opinion, and he’s entitled to that, but I don’t agree,” Heyward said on Good Morning Football. “We lost these last two games, and it’s been rough. But the Steelers way is about grinding it out and it doesn’t matter what’s going on. So, there is plenty to be done about it, and the tradition starts by winning games, having good defense, scoring points. So, hopefully we can adjust to that this week.”

Roethlisberger suggested that there might not be a Steelers tradition anymore and he placed blame for that at the feet of the coaches and the offense, primarily. He said there needs to be better leadership that keeps things from deteriorating to this level the current team is at, where they're making careless mistakes that cost them games.

"I understand the further you get away from that, the harder it is unless it's being passed down and carried the right way," Roethlisberger said. "It just feels like that's something that's been lost on this team. I've felt that certain guys on the team aren't in it for the team, they're in it for themselves. Well, now some of the guys on the team are saying the same thing."
