Steelers Close to Losing Justin Fields
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers could miss out on a Justin Fields trade as the Chicago Bears are nearing a deal to send the quarterback to Atlanta.
According to NFL insider Tony Pauline, the Bears and Falcons are close to finalizing a deal that would send Fields to Atlanta. The two sides have been talking at the NFL Combine and could have a trade in place soon.
"Word in Indianapolis is the Chicago Bears are close to finalizing a deal which would send former first-round pick Justin Fields to the Atlanta Falcons," Pauline writes.
The Steelers were reportedly one of three teams interested in Fields at the NFL Combine. General manager Omar Khan said he was open to exploring all options for a quarterback this offseason, not ruling out a possible trade with Chicago.
Pittsburgh has been the top landing spot for Fields all offseason, but will now likely turn their attention back to re-signing Mason Rudolph and looking for other veteran options to compete with Kenny Pickett.
Other names they've been associated with are Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins and Sam Darnold.
