Steelers Miss Top Prospect at Senior Bowl

The Pittsburgh Steelers will have to wait to see one of the NFL Draft's best centers.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will not get an opportunity to scout one of the NFL Draft's top offensive lineman prospects, and maybe the class's best center, as they travel to Mobile, Alabama for the Senior Bowl.

The Steelers are headed South for the week, where head coach Mike Tomlin, general manage Omar Khan and likely assistant GM Andy Weidl will get a deep dive on some of the country's best seniors. They'll also have a closer eye on some of the offensive linemen, with assistant o-line coach Isaac Williams coaching the offensive line of the American Team.

One player they will now miss out on getting an upclose look at throughout the week is Georgia center Sedrick Van Pran, who is no longer on the Senior Bowl roster.

The Steelers could look to add a center in the draft as Mason Cole enters the final year of his contract. They'll still get an opportunity to scout West Virginia center Zach Frazier and Oregon star Jackson Powers-Jonhson.

Van Pran could be a second or third round pick in the NFL Draft, which may be the key spot for the Steelers as they look to add to their defense and possibly their quarterback room. Tomlin traveling to Georgia's Pro Day is a yearly tradition for the Steelers head coach, so there's still another opportunity for Pittsburgh to get their eyes on him.
