Steelers Save Even More Money on Allen Robinson Contract

The Pittsburgh Steelers have reworked Allen Robinson's deal.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers didn't take on Allen Robinson's entire contract when they traded with the Los Angeles Rams for him, and now, they're saving even more money on the deal.

The Steelers' original agreement was that the Rams took on $5 million of Robinson's last $10 million in guaranteed money this season. LA already paid another $5 million of it earlier this spring.

Now, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, they're converting Robinson's contract into a signing bonus, taking his cap down even more in 2023.

The Steelers turned Robinson's last remaining $5 million into a $3.825 million signing bonus and a base salary of $1.165 million. That base salary will be the number that impacts their salary cap this season.

Robinson will enter the season at 30 years old coming off two down years. Still, when healthy, he's shown to be one of the top wide receivers in the NFL, and should be a reliable option for second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett.

Now, he'll be that reliable veteran without taking on a huge salary cap hit.
