Steelers Should Start Mason Rudolph

The Pittsburgh Steelers need to try their last option at quarterback.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers will have an important decision to make over the next week as they look to bounce back from two ugly losses and climb their way back into the AFC playoff picture.

Mitch Trubisky replaced Kenny Pickett as the Steelers' starter in Week 14 against the Patriots, and for the fourth time as Pittsburgh's QB, he lost. Throwing one interception, which should have been three interceptions, Trubisky's 2023 debut as a starting quarterback was as ugly as it could get.

It only took about a quarter before fans filled Acrisure Stadium with "Mason Rudolph" chants, begging the team to make a change at quarterback.

Head coach Mike Tomlin said after the game that he never considered a change. He should consider it before they travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts.

It's been two years since Mason Rudolph took the field for the Steelers, but at this point, they just need to try anything that might work. And even if they don't know if Rudolph will, they do know that Trubisky doesn't.

Since joining the Steelers last offseason, Trubisky has thrown seven touchdowns and eight interceptions. It's time to move on - for now.

Don't rule out the possibility of a change, as the team looks desperately for any spark they can find. And even if they haven't trusted Rudolph, really at all, in the last two seasons, they might be out of options in trying to crawl their way out of the hole they've dug.

It's about time the Steelers go backward and test out Mason Rudolph.
