Steelers Sign Former Giants Punter to Practice Squad

The Pittsburgh Steelers are insuring against a Pressley Harvin injury.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers could be without one of their highest-performing players this week and made a move to insure against being without him against the Houston Texans this week.

With punter Pressley Harvin - who averaged north of 50 yards per kick against the Las Vegas Raiders last week - working through a hamstring injury, the Steelers signed a familiar face, Brad Wing, to the practice squad, the team announced this week.

Wing, a native of Melbourne, Australia, signed with the Philadelphia Eagles coming out of LSU in 2013. He signed with the Steelers the following year and struggled to kick the ball, but did become the first Australian to score off a pass in the NFL when he took a botched snap and threw it for a two-point conversion.

He spent three years with the New York Giants after being traded for a seventh-round pick and was released in March 2018. He then spent the next two seasons with the Memphis Express of the Alliance of American Football before being selected with the 23rd overall pick of the 2023 XFL Draft by the San Antonio Brahmas, with whom he spent the spring.

Now he's back in the NFL and could be the Steelers' punter in Week 4.
