PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have added another running back to their roster, signing former Penn State standout John Lovett, the XFL Twitter account announced.

Lovett transferred to Penn State in 2021 after spending four years at Baylor. In five NCAA seasons, he rushed for 1980 yards and 17 touchdowns, with his career-best season coming in 2019 when he accumulated 655 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

He also played for the XFL's Vegas Vipers, rushing 59 times for 227 yards and three touchdowns.

With Alfonzo Graham out for the season due to a torn labrum, the Steelers spent their off day looking at running backs to add to their 90-man roster. Lovett outpaced a reported four backs, and will join the Steelers in Latrobe.

Lovett will now compete with Anthony McFarland, Darius Hagans and Jason Huntley for the team's final running back spot behind Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren.
