PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are testing their faith from the USFL once again, signing from Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Breakers cornerback Nevelle Clarke, according to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson.

Clarke becomes the first player off of the Breakers' roster to sign in the NFL this season. He's coming off a two-interception season, where he recorded 26 tackles. He's spent the last two springs with the Breakers.

Clarke's signing means the Steelers have replaced both Duke Dawson, who they waived/injured, and Isaiah Dunn, who they waived. The team recently announced the signing of former Michigan standout Lavert Hill, as well.

Clarke will enter a cornerback competition that features James Pierre, Madre Harper and Luq Barcoo heading into the second preseason game. After up-and-down performances by both, Pittsburgh's final roster spot seems somewhat open as they close out training camp.
