Report: Steelers Talking With Former Bengals WR
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers and wide receiver Tyler Boyd share "mutual interest" in the former Cincinnati Bengal returning to his hometown to play this upcoming season.
Boyd played both high school and college football in Pittsburgh (Clarion/University of Pittsburgh). According to The Athletic's Mark Kaboly, the two sides have spoken and have expressed their desire to get a deal done, bringing the veteran wideout back to the city to extend his NFL career.
Boyd, 29, has played eight seasons with the Bengals, recording 513 catches, 6,000 yards and 31 touchdowns. This past season, he caught 67 passes for 667 yards and two touchdowns.
The Steelers recently traded wide receiver Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers, leaving them thin at the position. Boyd would be able to add to a room that currently holds just George Pickens and Calvin Austin.
Pittsburgh is expected to look at the NFL Draft for another starter as well but is likely to sign a veteran, adding a proven commodity to their young room in 2024.
